Sunday 4 November 2012

It's been a while ...

Right, hello there, I'm back now!  Been ill the last week or so with gastroenteritis.  That kind of thing should have accelerated my weight loss but unfortunately I was just in lots of pain and didn't have any of the other, err, symptoms!

I've been feeling really weak and washed out with it so I've been eating lots of comfort food and 'build up' foods, but I weighed myself yesterday and have lost a pound so am now 12st 12lbs.  At least I'm now back in the 12's, that feels much better.

Me and hubby are out at the cinema tonight to see Skyfall (spookily enough, Adele is playing on the radio as I type this) and then out for dinner, then off to Barbacoa (Jamie Oliver restaurant) tomorrow night so things will get back on the SW track on Tuesday.

Here's wishing everyone a good week on their weigh loss journey x

Day 12

Ooh, forgot to post this one ...

Well, it's been a few days since I've been on here, and a few days since I've stuck to plan!  Sunday started well but then we had a massive roast dinner with lots of family over so I had delicious roast chicken but then had lots of roast potatoes, bread sauce, gravy, oh the list goes on!  I also made a fab lemon cheesecake and had a slice of that.

Monday and Tuesday weren't much better.  On Monday I took hubby for a surprise spa 'weekend' at Eastwell Manor in Kent and had dinner at the hotel which was amazing.  It's not Michelin starred, but it should be.  I had quite a lot of alcohol (!), then pan fried scallops, peas and pancetta followed by chateaubriand, chips, mushroom and bearnaise sauce followed by lemon sorbet with cherry 'soup'.  It was the most amazing meal I've had in a long time.  Oh, and I finished it off with an amaretto coffee.

Tuesday was a full fry up at the hotel with pastries and cereal.  On the way home we stopped off for a pub lunch and I had mac & cheese, but I didn't have any dinner in the evening.

So that brings me to today - Wednesday.  I thought I'd get on the scales to see how much damage had been done, and I've lost half a pound!!  It must have been all the massages I had over the last couple of days.

So, today I've had:

Breakfast - 2 slices wholemeal toast and scrambled egg
Lunch -
Dinner -

Day 8 - weigh in!

13st 0lbs - so that's a loss of 3lbs for the week.  Not too bad but I think it might have been more if I hadn't eaten the (massive) bowl of Alpen and popadom last night.  Ah well, at least it's a loss.

Breakfast - 2 slices toast with lemon curd.  No idea on syns but I'm going to say 6
Lunch - Veg soup with a piece of baguette (I'll add another 6 syns for that)
Dinner - Spicy chicken with SW chips and baked beans

Not a great start to the SW week with lemon curd and a big wedge of white baguette but then I think this is going to be a pretty rotten week anyway.  Hubby and I are away Monday/Tuesday so will not be sticking completely to plan those days, then my mother is coming to stay for a few days towards the end of the week and she always brings cake!  However, when I can I will be sticking to plan and not let myself go completely.

I also need to start doing more exercise.

Day 6 & Day 7

Unfortunately I didn't keep my diary on Day 6 and it's far too long ago to remember what I ate!  I know I was good tho!

Anyway ... Day 7
Breakfast - weetabix
Lunch - jacket potato with cottage cheese and marmite
Dinner - omlette with sweetcorn and ham

All in all this makes an excellent day, apart from the fact that the omlette didn't fill me up so I ended up having a massive bowl of Alpen and then my husband had a takeaway and tempted me with a popadom and some (ok lots) mango chutney, so not a great end to the day.

Day 5

Breakfast - shreddies
Lunch - jacket spud with Tuna and, you guessed it, natural yogurt!
Dinner - Tandoori chicken, rice and salad
Snacks - satsuma, banana

I forgot to bring in my weetabix today so had to have shreddies instead.  Still whole grain goodness so I'm not too fussed.

I was very organised last night and baked a jacket spud to bring in to work which I'll heat up quickly in the microwave.  I used to buy jacket spuds from a deli around the corner from work, but at £5 a pop it is much healthier to my wallet to make my own.

Tandoori chicken is something that we've always eaten in our house and no changes whatsoever have had to be made in order to convert it to an SW recipe.  3tbsp of tandoori spice powder into a bowl, add in the chopped chicken breast and mix until the chicken is covered.  Then add fat free natural yogurt, a squeeze of lemon juice and some salt & pepper and leave to marinade for a few hours (overnight if possible).  Then put the chicken on skewers and grill until cooked through.  Serve with rice and a salad, extra yogurt to dip and with a wedge of lemon to squeeze over.

Day 4

Breakfast - weetabix & banana
Lunch - pasta with shredded ham, peas & sweetcorn, natural yogurt
Dinner - spaghetti bolognaise

Fat free natural yogurt is my new best friend.  I've used it instead of butter on my mash, as a dip for my carrott sticks, on my pasta for lunch.  It's very versatile and can be made a little more exciting by adding some spices (cayen pepper, paprika etc).

I love my spag bol and the only thing I need to change for an SW version is to cook in fry light and use extra lean mince.  Everything else stays the same.  Having eaten far too much pasta at lunch I'm only going to have a few pieces of penne with my spag bol and a small grating of parmesan.

My husband is currently doing the Dukan Diet (not my idea of fun!) and is nicking some of my mince to make kofta type kebabs.  I know what will look (and taste) better!

I'm desperate to get on the scales as I'm starting to feel better already, but will save that for Saturday morning.
